Australian plants are diverse and interesting. They can be colourful and tolerant of our difficult, often harsh conditions. With so many different forms of leaf and flower, they could never be described as boring. Planting native shrubs and trees will also benefit the wildlife. By planting natives, you are giving them something to eat, and somewhere to play, hide and sleep.
Although we often prefer the spectacular Western Australian natives, it is worth considering planting our local indigenous natives. These are plants whose seed has been sourced from local plants that have evolved on our local soils, and are adapted to our local climate. At BAAG we have a wide variety of natives, and we also carry a wide range of local indigenous tubes that we source from Edendale nursery. The seed for these is sourced from around the Yarra and Plenty rivers.
